Boot from USB command on an older PC । Install Windows from Pendrive on an Old PC

Hard Disk BBS Priorities, Boot from Pendrive, USB boot option not available, how to install windows using pendrive, old pc does have a option pendrive

Nowadays disk is not a major part of a computer, most PCs are built without an actual DVD or CD drive, files are transferred through the internet and most valuable files are not stored on DVD or CD. In that case installation of windows has changed and got faster by Pendrive. Though the installation system of windows through DVD and USB are the same but to start the installation are not the same as DVD and USB.

So now how you can manage to Boot from USB through the BIOS, in that case, a small description about the BIOS is needed to understand the fact of BIOS. BIOS refers to "Basic Input Output System", which is responsible for a PC to precheck the hardware of your computer and select a boot device to run the PC. It usually checks the hardware and power system when you press the Power Button then ask the storage device such as Harddisk or SSD to load the operating system of your computer.

Now you got a small idea about BIOS but now focus on the system of taking the auto-selection of boot device by BIOS and revert the auto-selection so that you can command BIOS to boot from a disk you want. Then you can Boot from USB or a Pendrive or by a network device etc.

To Boot from USB Pendrive you need to know (Read Carefully and Make one for you)
How to create a boot-able Pendrive! - MBR or GPT?
After that, you are now ready to go

Now I believe that you got a bootable Pendrive on your hand, now let's get to the next step, Now you need to know about your PC or Laptop Manufacturer so that you can choose to boot from the USB command or you can find the command for your PC.

Let's divide the PCs by time to get some more ideas

  1. Old PCs
  2. Modern PCs

Olds PCs

Old PCs don't have the option of boot from USB by default or don't have the option of USB hard disks, such as Esonic G31 or G41, doesn't have the direct option of USB, so what should you do. If you have one of this type of PC.

All the old PC does go BIOS option by the keyboard button "Del" or "Delete" when you get to the BIOS option, there you get a tab of option called Boot. (Note: All the part is done by Keyboard)

The sequential way to do the work (Mostly you need to do all the work by the keyboard)

Press the Power button and instantly continuously press the del or Delete button on the keyboard. You get an option like that below.

The BIOS usually has differences in some cases, so to make sure you are doing right you need some more information about BIOS. Such as follow the above image of older BIOS, if you have one like this.
  1. BIOS Menu Bar: There are all the important menus listed, all you need is to go to the Boot section. Please don't provide passwords in the security section if you don't have any idea about it. Because the password given on the BIOS has no easy bypass if you forget it. Just press the Left and Right Arrow key to select the Menu.
  2. Boot Mode Select: From here you can select your desire boot mood, but don't change if you are already using one of them, Legacy means MBR and UEFI means GPT. Know more about it from MBR or GPT? Don't change anything here if you don't know much about it. [Note: Some older version BIOS doesn't have this option, because those are built-in Legacy mood]
  3. Boot Order Priorities: Not all the older BIOS have this awesome option. If you have this option, you can simply change the priority of boot order, so if you have a bootable Pendrive, you can change the priority and make a USB Hard Disk in Boot Option #1 or on the first of the list. Changing of boot order key may very also, in the above image in section 6, there is an instruction for changing anything. [Note: In that version, the changing key is +/-, some other versions also have F5/F6, etc.]
  4. Hard Disk BBS Priority: This option usually known as a Hard Disk BBS Priority or Hard disk Priority. In that option, you can select the Pendrive [Note: You must connect the Pendrive before pressing the power button to have this task done if you don't do that, you need to connect your Pendrive and again restart your pc, follow the instruction again.] as a first boot device.
  5. Instruction Set: The above image no 5 section is the instruction and information area about your selected Menu or Sub-menu, normally every type of BIOS has one of those, some haven't.
  6. Command Box: Command boxes are a set of command instructions on what to do for the BIOS. Some BIOS have this command box in the footer.
After doing all the steps you need to save all the commands you given to the BIOS section. The saving of your changes are listed on command box, most BIOS saving button is F10.

[Note: If you are trying to load a live Windows or Linux by a Pendrive then after doing the above step, every time your pc will be started by default on Pendrive, but if you wants to install windows by a Pendrive then you should remove Pendrive after  the first process finished until the copying or extracting windows files into the hard disk or SSD, especially when your pc going to be restarted otherwise the windows installation perform again to the first process.]

There are also have other types of BIOS too, such as:

In this types of BIOS you have to go to:

  1. Advanced BIOS Features
  2. Hard Disk Boot Priority
  3. Select Pendrive as a first boot device.
Finally, all the above descriptions and methods are useful to those who have a nonbrand motherboard or olds pcs, but to all modern PCs and well-known motherboard manufacturers are make a command for boot order during boot.
